People. Technology. Results.

About The Ibis Network

At The Ibis Network, we believe the number one strategy for long-term growth is a strong business network. It’s a sure-fire way to generate referral-driven business. And in the modern world, the Internet has tremendously expanded your ability to create such a network. We drive business to you through a combination of content marketing and social promotion that builds a virtual network of true fans, even before they make their first purchase from you. Start growing your business today.

Mission

We have only one goal, and it’s very straightforward — to drive business results for small businesses with state-of-the-art Silicon-Valley marketing.

Even in the most developed countries in the world, more than half of small business don’t even have a website — 55% in 2014. Having a website is really non-negotiable in this day and age, but even having a website is leaving a lot of opportunity on the table. Only 6% of SMBs have mobile-optimized websites.

People

Our technology is awesome. But it wouldn’t be that way without our people. More importantly, we’re a marketing company. We need to understand our clients’ challenges and goals, invent solutions, and translate those solutions into campaigns that deliver results. Again, this wouldn’t be possible without amazing people. That’s why we apply Silicon-Valley best-practices not only to our technology, but to our hiring and management. Today, that means that our work-force is completely distributed. We use the very latest in collaboration and cloud technology to enable us to work with the best people in the world, no matter where they may be located.

Are you an awesome designer who happens to live in Marrakesh? No problem. Are you a world-class writer who wants to spend six months trekking in Southeast Asia? No problem.

Values

At The Ibis Network, we’re trying to do something amazing — and to do amazing things, we know we need an amazing team.

All that stuff we just said above about our people would be meaningless if we didn’t have the culture to attract, develop, encourage, motivate, and retain the very best in the world. To achieve those goals, we’ve put together our core values as the driving factor in making sure we have a team that can all work together and collectively achieve greatness.

The Golden Rule

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” — Many companies list “integrity” as a core value, but that word has become diluted in the business world. The Golden Rule gets to the heart of things, and applies equally to peers, superiors, subordinates, customers, vendors, investors and partners.

Be Passionate

Care deeply and energetically about everything you do. Of course, this is not actually possible unless you are psychologically manic, but still, we try and live this.

Have Fun

Being passionate is great, but it’s not enough. If you’re not having fun in everything you do in your life, you’re doing it wrong. To be sure, we all from time to time have to do things we don’t enjoy. But those should be temporary situations, and we should consciously embark upon them. The slow build of melancholy that comes from unintentional, unacknowledged boredom leads to wretchedness and its antidote is joy!

Innovate Quickly, Renovate until it’s Awesome

There’s a saying in Silicon Valley, “perfect is the enemy of good enough”. This is true. If you wait for perfection, you will be crushed by your competition. But it’s also true that “good enough is the enemy of excellent”. Get something out there quickly, but then quickly improve it, again and again.

Hire Better

This applies in both senses: hire better than you did last time, and hire people who are better than you. There’s another Silicon Valley truism, “A players hire A players; B players hire C players”. We’re building a team of A players.

Don’t Reinvent The Wheel

Even though we’re building a team of A players, we’re still a young company, and we don’t have a big enough team to be experts at everything. But whether it’s setting compensation plans, forecasting sales, tracking inventory, developing software, or doing just about anything else, there are lots of successful companies already doing it successfully. So, unless it’s an area in which we are intentionally trying to innovate, we commit to spending the effort to find out how everyone else does it. That solution will be cheaper, faster, and better.

Share the Wealth

The most assured way to get everyone in a company lined up to make the business a success is to see to it that every employee has a chance to be successful, too. We pay well and we bonus well. And we expect results.

Say “yes”!

When an opportunity presents itself, don’t shut the door just because it’s outside of your comfort zone. There are many roles where saying, “no,” is the majority of the job — from CFO to product manager. But if you always say “no” to things just because they’re new or uncomfortable, you will never move beyond where you are; more likely, you’ll be surpassed and fall back below where you are. The single biggest obstacle to success is your ability to say “yes” when an opportunity arises.
